With the political spotlight on John McCain, Barack Obama made a trip into unusual territory tonight—Bill O'Reilly's show on Fox News. During the recorded interview, Obama acknowledged that the US military surge in Iraq has "succeeded beyond our wildest dreams," but he said Iraqis still haven't done enough to take responsibility for their country, Bloomberg reports. John McCain has repeatedly criticized Obama for failing to back the surge.

"Understand this, the argument was and continues to be when are we going to turn over responsibility to the Iraqis for their own country,'' said Obama. He also offered tough talk on Iran, calling it "unacceptable" for Tehran to possess a nuclear weapon, the Washington Post notes. "It would be a game changer," he said. "I would never take military action off the table." (More Barack Obama stories.)
