German Cops Hunt Autobahn Skater

Posted Sep 5, 08 3:08 PM CDT in Crime & Courts World

(Newser) – German police are hunting for the anonymous daredevil who piloted a skateboard down a stretch of the autobahn at better than 60 mph, Der Spiegel reports. Police only recently got wind of the stunt, which has been making the YouTube rounds since June, but now want to find and charge the man with breaking motorway laws—including speeding.

Police say they’ve put out an all-points bulletin on the man, and have already uncovered some “useful clues” to his identity. The video shows the rider—believed to be a professional stuntman—holding onto a motorcycle to get up to speed, before letting go and cruising downhill under his own power. Authorities are worried non-professionals will attempt to imitate the stunt.
