Mel Gibson's hopes of a Hollywood acting comeback have taken a major hit with the abrupt departure of Robert De Niro from the set of Edge of Darkness, reports the Independent. Unspecified "creative differences" triggered the exit, which has put the thriller on hold, said a De Niro spokesman. Rumors are rampant that the two actors did not get along. Work has been in short supply for Gibson since he made anti-Semitic comments to police arresting him for drunk driving 2 years ago.
