Palin's Glasses Are a Fashion Spectacle

Posted Sep 11, 08 1:13 PM CDT in US Politics Arts & Living

(Newser) – Sarah Palin: Hockey mom, moose-hunter … trend setter? Marie Claire says Palin's $375 designer glasses are “a style hit,” and opticians have been flooded with inquiries about the Kazuo Kawasaki 704s, reports the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.  “It’s always been, ‘Men don’t make passes at girls that wear glasses,'" says one fan of the frames. "In seeing her, I think that’s all changed now."

Some speculate that the VP pick is wearing what pundits called the “naughty librarian” look to seem smarter. "It shows how little we've advanced," says the head of a women’s group. When Geraldine Ferraro ran for vice president in 1984, "The big issue was 'What is she going to wear?'" And glasses are little different, she says.
