(Newser) – The newest car to roll off BMW's Mini line may have more in common with a Ford Escape than with its cousins Cooper and Clubman, reports Driving.ca. The new model, which may be called the Crossman, premieres next month at the Paris Motor Show, and anticipation is mounting. Not too much is known about the all-wheel drive "softroader."

The current Crossman design has two conventional doors on the passenger side, and a half-sliding door for the rear driver's side. The back tailgate, meanwhile, might split down the middle to make two doors. The 6½-foot-wide design should have at least the 207 horsepower of the Cooper S, and may feature a slick, integrated navigation and entertainment system.

The new MINI may have quite a range of door types: the traditional two on the passenger side, a normal door plus small sliding panel on the driver's side, and a large rear opening.

The new MINI, possibly to be named the Crossman, rides on a 2-meter wheelbase and is likely to have at least the 207-horsepower engine of the Cooper S.
