A newlywed American teen was among the victims of the US embassy attack in Yemen yesterday, Newsday reports. Susan Elbaneh,18, had gone to Yemen last month to marry and was at the embassy to fill out paperwork for her husband, according to her family. Her brother is in Yemeni custody for plotting terror attacks, but her family stressed that Susan was an innocent victim.

The couple had been waiting outside when a car bomb exploded near the embassy gates and Islamic militants opened fire with automatic weapons, according to a family member. "It looks like they were two young people in the wrong place at the wrong time," the principal of Elbaneh's high school told the Buffalo News. "She had spoken at one time about becoming a nurse. This is such a tragedy." (More Yemen stories.)
