For Boston, the Future Is Now

Posted Jul 3, 07 5:18 AM CDT in Sports

(Newser) – Veteran sharpshooter Ray Allen, one of a select few stars who had expressed interest in playing in Boston, was formally introduced at a Celtics news conference, along with draft picks Glen Davis and Gabe Pruitt. Allen was traded by Seattle for two players and the fifth pick in a loaded 2007 draft.

The trade seems to indicate that Boston hopes to contend for a championship now in what is admittedly a very weak Eastern Conference, with the potentially high-scoring trio of Allen, Paul Pierce, and young up-and-comer Al Jefferson. After surgery in April on both ankles, Allen, 32, says he feels like he has "two new pairs of feet."
