John Lennon's son said his give-peace-a-chance pop once screamed at him so loudly that the boy ended up in the hospital with damage to his ear, reports the New York Post. The famous Beatle became enraged when Sean, then 4, failed to heed his lessons on how to cut steak. "I remember I was lying on the floor and hurting, and him holding me and saying, 'I'm so sorry.' He did have a temper," Lennon, 32, is quoted as saying in an upcoming biography.

Sean also recalled his dad's soft side, like the time he cried when the family's cat died. He still can't believe his father left the Beatles to create the Plastic Ono Band with mom Yoko. It was like "Matisse turning his back on painting," he writes in John Lennon: The Life, out next month. "It was as if Elvis left Vegas in the '70s and started to play with the punks."
