Hillary Didn't Really Want VP Slot: Bill

Clinton would've paired up with Obama only out of sense of 'duty'

(Newser) – Even as rumors continue to bounce around the Internet that Hillary Clinton could end up on the Democratic ticket, she never wanted to—and would only have accepted the VP slot out of a sense of duty, Bill Clinton said on The View today. “Not really, she didn’t,” Bill said when asked by Barbara Walters of his wife’s inclinations, ABC reports.

But blogger Mondoreb reports on Death by 1,000 Papercuts that Joe Biden will drop off the ticket by Oct. 5, citing health reasons, and clear the way for Obama-Clinton. Supporting the rumor is a shortage of Obama-Biden goodies at various campaign stores, Mondoreb finds; staff say they expect more within two weeks. “Two weeks?" asks Mondoreb. "That would place the date around the 4th or 5th of October, incidentally.”

A shortage of paraphernalia touting the Obama/Biden ticket, and a surplus of Obama-only items, have bloggers buzzing over rumors that Hillary Clinton will replace Biden on the Democratic ticket.

"She said, 'If [Obama] asks, I'll do it because it's my duty,'" Bill Clinton told ABC's "The View" of his wife's position on being on the ticket. But did she want to? "Not really, she didn't."   (AP Photo)
