Disney's New Princess Could Grab Miley's Crown

(Newser) – A new star is rising through the Disney ranks and teen entertainment watchers think she could go all the way to the top, Entertainment Weekly reports. At 16, Demi Lovato already has a decade of showbiz experience under her belt and the Camp Rock star looks set to go take off with a debut album out soon and her own show airing next year.

Lovato has been in the gossip spotlight since co-starring with the Jonas brothers, although she insists that she and Joe Jonas are just friends. The teen downplays rumors of a feud with Miley Cyrus, despite a much-viewed Web video in which Cyrus mocks Lovato and best friend Selena Gomez. But some observers believe Disney is clearing the way for Lovato and Gomez to grab center stage.

Disney seems to be grooming Demi and Selena as the next Miley, and basically, these girls haven't screwed up, whereas Miley's had some issues. - Mark Fightmaster, an equities analyst and expert on the teen entertainment business

Imagine being new to Disney, and your first big job is being the romantic interest of one of the biggest heartthrobs on the channel. Any girl that is a friend of the Jonas Brothers gets hate mail.
