German Gamer Admits to Brutal Murder

Posted Sep 27, 08 6:11 AM CDT in Crime & Courts World

(Newser) – A German man has confessed to stabbing to death a Brit he met through an online war game, the Guardian reports. The 20-year-old victim ran a forum for fans of the game. Detectives had initially believed that the slaying stemmed from an online feud but it later emerged that the German had become obsessed with the victim's girlfriend.

"He said he had got to know the deceased's girlfriend via the internet and thought he had fallen in love with her,” the German prosecutor said. "He twice visited Britain to see her, and both times was unwelcome." The killer was traced through an apologetic message he left on the Facebook page of the victim’s girlfriend.
