Posted Sep 28, 08 4:31 PM CDT in Sports

(Newser) – The New York Mets' blunder-prone bullpen threw away their playoff hopes by serving up two homers in a 4-2 loss to the Florida Marlins today, the New York Post reports. Meanwhile C.C. Sabathia pitched the Milwaukee Brewers to a 3-1 win over the Chicago Cubs, securing the Brew Crew a wild card spot. It was the second straight year that the Marlins kicked the Mets out of the playoffs on the last day of the season.
