Man Opens Fire in Vegas Casino, Wounds Four

Posted Jul 6, 07 4:49 PM CDT in US

(Newser) – A man opened fire at random in Las Vegas's New York-New York casino early this morning, wounding four guests on the floor below him. None of the injuries were fatal, and officers and patrons managed to bring him down before he wreaked further havoc. Another woman was injured in the ensuing chaos, but the casino floor never shut down.

"They locked down the tables, but they let people still keep playing the shots," one bewildered gambler told the AP. The perpetrator was not a guest: "It seems like a local guy who snapped and went to the hotel to do it," said one police officer. He has been arrested and charged with attempted murder among other counts.
