It Ain't Over Yet: Rove
(Newser)
–
John McCain’s campaign may be down, but he’s not yet out, writes Karl Rove in the Wall Street Journal. Voters still have real doubts about Barack Obama, and McCain may have enough time yet to turn those doubts into votes for him. Some 45% of voters in one recent poll said Obama isn’t qualified for the job—the highest “unqualified” rating since 1988.
McCain is “shaping a storyline that draws on well-founded concerns about Mr. Obama's lack of record or experience,” Rove writes. The Republican has finally learned to talk about the economy, and has sharpened his performance, his message, and his strategy: he’s campaigning more clearly in more carefully chosen states now. Obama may be vastly outspending McCain, but that makes McCain’s task difficult—not impossible.
