'Caylee's Dead' Remark Was Out of Context: Defense

Casey Anthony's defense team says comments that proclaimed the Florida woman’s missing 3-year-old daughter dead were edited “completely out of context,” the Orlando Sentinel reports. A defense spokesman who appeared on CNN last night mentioned “the loss of the life of this little girl” only in response to another guest's remarks, lawyers for the 22-year-old mother said today.

The spokesman “never was stating that there is any belief whatsoever by Casey Anthony or the Baez Law Firm, that Ms. Anthony's daughter, Caylee, might be deceased,” today’s statement reads. A lawyer for Caylee's grandparents—who are still looking for clues to her whereabouts—lambasted the “inappropriate, uninformed comment.” (More Caylee Anthony stories.)
