Becks May Play for Milan on MLS Break

Italian juggernaut talking to MLS' Galaxy about loan deal

(Newser) – Officials of Italian soccer juggernaut AC Milan officials are confident David Beckham will play for the team during his break from Major League Soccer, the Guardian reports. Though Beckham has remained mum, a Milan exec was emphatic. “Beckham wants to train and play for Milan. We want him and he will arrive in January for the rest of the season.”

Playing in Europe after the MLS season ends this weekend could keep Beckham fit and in contention for England’s World Cup qualifying squad. The AC Milan deal would confer another advantage: England’s coach, Fabio Capello, played for Milan, thus heightening his chances. “If he is available for four months with us,” Milan’s coach said, “we will be very happy.”
