World's Heaviest Groom Weds

Half-ton man goes to wedding on flatbed

(Newser) – The world's heaviest man was married yesterday in a bizarre wedding ceremony in Mexico that required a crane to transport him to him to the nuptials. Manuel Uribe, 47, was driven to the ceremony on the back of a flatbed truck, decorated in white, still resting in the bed he hasn't left for six years. His 38-year-old bride has been helping Uribe lose weight.

"I have a wife and will form a new family and live a happy life," Uribe vowed to reporters. The former mechanic tipped the scales at 1,230 pounds in 2006. He has since shed about 550 pounds. The reception that followed the wedding included a five-tier wedding cake for 400 wedding guests, but the groom passed it up.
