(Newser) – Lawrence Eagleburger, one of five former secretaries of state whose endorsement John McCain often touts, sharply criticized Sarah Palin yesterday, saying she is not ready to handle the presidency if needed and would at best be an “adequate” commander in chief, the Huffington Post reports. Asked if Palin would be ready to assume the top spot, Eagleburger replied, “Of course not.”

"I don't think at the moment she is prepared to take over the reins of the presidency,” Eagleburger continued in the NPR interview. “Give her some time in the office and I think she will be adequate. I can't say that she would be a genius in the job.” McCain and Palin have frequently cited Eagleburger as evidence of support from foreign-policy experts.

Its really scary to think of McCain and Palin going into the White House. We don't need 4 more years of this mess. She has no knowlege of what the VP job is, must less the foreign policies. God help us if she and McCain were to be elected.
