(Newser) – Barack Obama is considering environmental lawyer Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to head the Environmental Protection Agency, Mike Allen notes on Politico. The shrewd move would raise the EPA's profile—pleasing liberals Obama may otherwise disappoint during the budget crunch—and pay back the Kennedys for their crucial support during the primaries.

There is no one who has done more for US environmental policy than Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Obama would hands down win the war on unemployment if choosing Kennedy for the post.

I think this is a brilliant choice. RFK Jr. is experienced, has a proven track record in environmental law and legislation, knows how the game is played, and clearly states Obama's grasp of the playing field.
