(Newser) – Oprah is getting ready to say goodbye to ABC and take her legendary talk show to her OWN cable network, the New York Post reports. The CEO of Discovery Communications, which is teaming up with Winfrey to create OWN (the Oprah Winfrey Network) says he expects Winfrey’s eponymous show to cease airing via syndication when her current deal ends in September 2011.

“The expectation is that after that, her show will go off of ABC in syndication and she will come to OWN,” he said. Oprah’s company, Harpo, however, says no decision has been made yet. “The truth of the matter is one day the show has to end,” she told reporters in January. “That may be 2011 and that may be after 2011.”
