Lieberman Should Be Punished: Leahy

Dem wants McCain-backing independent stripped of committee chairmanship

(Newser) – Patrick Leahy thinks fellow Sen. Joe Lieberman, after campaigning for John McCain, should no longer occupy the chair of key committees, the Democrat told Vermont Public Radio today. The Connecticut independent currently caucuses with the Democrats, and chairs the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs committees, the Hill notes. Lieberman went “beyond the pale,” Leahy said.

“I'm one who does not feel somebody should be rewarded with a major chairmanship after doing what he did,” Leahy said. “I thought they went way beyond the pale, that they were not fair, that they were not legitimate, that they perpetuated some of these horrible myths that were run about Sen. Obama.”

Joe is just a pawn and a plant for the republicans. The sad part is that when they are done with him, he will be worst off in the end. By him claiming to be independent, that just shows you that he can't be trusted to run or handle anything. Independent, confused and in the middle, htat is just a game plane to say "I'm gonna go for whoever gives me the most. But I believe with some of you, Traitor (Benedict Arnold) Joe should just blow away quietly with the wind.

I don't think he should be punished, however he should receive a form of censure. If he didn't approve of his parties nomination, perhaps he should switch parties.
