Mavs' owner sets his sights on Wrigley Field

(Newser) – Mercurial billionaire Mark Cuban has expressed in interest in buying the Chicago Cubs. Put on the block by real estate mogul Sam Zell, the Cubs will have to placate Major League Baseball and local fans to succeed. Rick Morrissey, writing in another Zell property, the Chicago Tribune, says he thinks it will be a hard sell.

Cuban made his money selling broadcast.com to Yahoo near the beginning of the dot-com frenzy. He reinvested some of his haul in the Dallas Mavericks NBA franchise and has devoted a considerable amount of his energy to improving the team.

(NEWSER) - Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig gave Dodgers' owner Frank McCourt a major league headache today after putting the kibosh on a proposed TV deal between the Dodgers and Fox—and simultaneously squashing McCourt's divorce deal from Jamie McCourt. Selig said the deal was "structured to facilitate the further diversion of Dodgers assets for the personal needs of Mr McCourt." Under the deal, $173.5 million of the upfront money would have gone to the McCourts and their lawyers, notes the LA Times. More»
