(Newser) – Online matchmaker eHarmony has agreed to launch a gay dating service as part of a settlement of a discrimination lawsuit with the state of New Jersey. The service, to be called Compatible Partners, will be launched next spring and will be available through the main eHarmony website, reports the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The lawsuit was filed by a New Jersey resident. "I heard their advertisement that winter and thought, 'Hey, this could work for me,'" he explained. "I went to their website but couldn't pass the initial screen. There was no option for man seeking man. It made me angry and sad."

EHarmony excluded gays from its offers of romance. Now the online dating service has agreed to launch a site for gays and lesbians to settle a lawsuit.

I went to their website. There was no option for man seeking man. It made me feel angry, mad and sad, a whole range of emotions. - EHarmony litigant Eric McKinley

Yes, but what if I don't believe in your imaginary friend? I don't believe in your God. That's YOUR personal belief, not everyones.

"He made Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve." What an intelligent, cogent argument. Refreshing and intellectual! It even rhymes. Surely this will make me rethink my Satanic choice of falling in love with other men. All this time, I could have had God... and clever rhymes! All this wasted time.....
