Angry Sister of Web Suicide: 'No One Lifted a Finger'

Share

(Newser) – The Florida teen who committed suicide live via webcam was bipolar and used his own prescription drugs to kill himself, the Miami Herald reports. “It’s unimaginable,” the boy’s father said. “I did everything I could. I'm sorry it wasn't enough.” His sister expressed anger at the online viewers who watched him lie motionless. "I just do not understand how so many hours passed and no one lifted a finger," she told the New York Post. Some commentators mocked him; others thought it a joke.

Friends of 19-year-old Abraham Biggs, who recently enlisted in the Army Reserves, said he was upset over his parents’ divorce and a contentious relationship with his sometime girlfriend. Biggs’ father said he had no intention of watching the video and complained about the "lack of control" over such postings. Biggs' mother said he "was well loved and cared for. However, the mental illness of bipolarity and depression got the better part of him.”

We were very good friends. I don't want to watch what is out there. It's wrong that it was allowed to happen. - Abraham Biggs, Sr.

Who have we become? My heart goes out to Biggs' family. Do we have no compassion for others? How can we allow and reach our children that this is OK? I blame everyone especially the parents who evidently quit training and teaching their children. Our society is paying dearly for this as it is. To spur someone to kill themselves actually kills parts of the individuals who took part sinceless murder. Shame on all of you!!!!
