Bettie Page is in intensive care after suffering a heart attack, the AP reports. The '50s pinup queen is critically ill in a Los Angeles-area hospital, her agent said. According to a family friend, Page, 85, is in a coma. "I would not deny that," said her agent, who declined to offer further comment on her condition.

Page became a pinup sensation in the '50s, famous for her saucy—and often sadomasochistic—poses. She dropped out of the public eye for decades after retiring from modeling, converting to Christianity and battling mental illness. She resurfaced in the '90s, amazed to discover that she had become a pop culture sensation, and has granted the occasional interview, although never allowing herself to be photographed.
