Grammy Awards remember Whitney Houston

(NEWSER) - Grammy Awards host LL Cool J brought up Whitney Houston 's death almost as soon as he took the stage tonight, and started the ceremony with a prayer for her before formally welcoming the audience. Then it was more Whitney, with LL Cool J presenting a video of the beloved diva performing "I Will Always Love You" at a previous Grammy Awards. "Whitney, we will always love you," he said. She heard voices of mom, brother in her head

(NEWSER) - How was Jennifer Hudson able to make a comeback, singing the national anthem at the 2009 Super Bowl just months after her mother, brother, and nephew were murdered? Those family members played a part, she explains to Dateline in an interview airing Jan. 8. "I felt as though I had to," Hudson says in a preview obtained by the Huffington Post . New music video not exactly well-received

(NEWSER) - Justin Bieber teamed up with Mariah Carey for a new version of her '90s holiday classic, "All I Want for Christmas Is You," and the results are just about as bad as you'd expect. A sampling of the reactions:

• "Why has the Bieb launched a campaign to traumatize everyone who's old enough to remember the '90s?" moans Margaret Hartmann on Jezebel . His Boyz II Men video was bad enough, but "now he's released a Macy's commercial disguised as a Mariah Carey duet—though we used that term loosely because it sounds like Bieber is just wailing over the old recording of the song."

Prosecutors want her behind bars for blowing off community service

(NEWSER) - Prosecutors are out to put Lindsay Lohan back behind bars after she blew off her community service . Lohan has never shown up at an LA coroner's office, where she was supposed to work 120 hours, and rarely appeared at a women's shelter, where she was required to put in 360 hours. The time was mandated as part of Lohan's probation on a drunken driving and theft charge. "She was terminated from the women's center program for failing to show up. This was one of the terms of her probation. So we will seek jail time for her," a spokesman for the city attorney told the Los Angeles Times . More»
