(Newser) – The British indie musician Patrick Wolf thinks fan involvement is the future of the music industry, and he's willing to put their money where his mouth is, NME reports. Fans who sign up through the website Bandstocks.com will be able to help fund Wolf's album—and earn perks like premium tickets and limited-edition albums in the process.

"It's the beginning of the future for artists and musicians in the music industry. There's no way we can rely on conglomerate, corporate companies anymore," Wolf says. For a $15 contribution, "you get a share in the album. So you almost become part of the record company, like a co-owner of the album."
