Michelle Obama talks Joining Forces, tapes 'iCarly'

(AP) - Michelle Obama wants to see more stories of military families on TV and in movies, so she came to Hollywood to do something about it. The first lady met with members of the writers, producers, directors, and actors unions at the Writers Guild Theater to discuss Joining Forces, an initiative she created with Jill Biden for increasing public consciousness and support of military families. During yesterday's hour-long program, Obama shared the stage with a National Guard pilot, a retired soldier and the wife of an Army officer. 'Technologically challenged' prez pushes right buttons

(AP) - Surrounded by celebrity performers and characters from the North Pole, the Obama family led a countdown and lighted the National Christmas Tree tonight on the Ellipse, just south of the White House. Michelle Obama and daughters Malia and Sasha helped President Obama press a button to light the tree, an annual tradition since the 1920s. The batch they welcomed into the world six months ago had a portentous one: the Hope and Change Litter. One of those 10 puppies is Bo, the newly famous First Dog. (NEWSER) - The newest Obama will be named Bo, the Washington Post reports in the latest in a series of leaks about the Portuguese water dog the first family plans to introduce to an entranced nation Tuesday. The White House tried to keep a lid on puppy information, but a blog released a picture and interview (yes, an interview) with a dog that looks just like one pictured elsewhere with the family.
