(Newser) – Jennifer Aniston was on the prowl for arm candy when it looked like she might be forced to attend her film premiere dateless, the New York Post reports. During the much-publicized lull in her relationship with John Mayer, Aniston’s camp went out shopping for dates—a task made especially important considering her movie opens on the same day as ex-hubby Brad Pitt’s.

“A friend of her agent was calling around asking for young men whom they could set her up with,” a source said. “She didn’t want to face the glare of being unattached while Brad Pitt toted Angelina Jolie around.” The search was called off when Aniston and Mayer rekindled their romance. Whew.
