(Newser) – After weeks of mulling it over, Caroline Kennedy has decided to ask New York Gov. David Paterson to consider her for the US Senate seat Hillary Clinton is about to vacate, the New York Times reports. Kennedy, 51, an author and philanthropist, has never held elective office but has been encouraged by family members to seek the seat, which won't be available unless and until Clinton is confirmed as secretary of state.

She is really leaning on the KENNEDY name to get her this seat. Why do some rich people try to get involved in politics? She is educated but not in politics.
