'Sopranos' Rules Emmy Nods

Posted Jul 19, 07 5:02 PM CDT in US Arts & Living

(Newser) – "The Sopranos" went out on an underwhelming note but still managed to dominate the Emmy nominations announced today, collecting 15 nods, including best drama and best leading actor and actress for James Gandolfini and Edie Falco. Half of this year's nominees will join the party for the first time, including stars from freshman series "Ugly Betty," "30 Rock," and "Heroes."

On cable, HBO's "Entourage" earned its first nod for comedy series while AMC's first-ever miniseries, "Broken Trail," snapped up 16 nominations. One of the biggest Web memes of the year, an "SNL" video starring Justin Timberlake and a special Christmas package, drew a nod for best original music and lyrics. The ceremony is set for September 16.
