Troubled country singer's mother has custody of her 5-year-old
(NEWSER) - Contrary to earlier reports, Mindy McCready and 5-year-old son Zander haven't disappeared, explains her rep: The country singer simply took her child from the care of her own mother, who has custody of the boy, over fears for his safety. "Since at least January, 2011, Ms. McCready has been desperately advising the court, and others involved in the Ft. Myers, Florida, proceedings, that Zander is in danger, both physically and emotionally, at [mother Gayle] Inge’s home," the singer's rep said in a statement to ABC News.
