Palin Fans, Stop Whining About Caroline

Comparing Palin and Kennedy is like comparing apples and zebras

(Newser) – Critics crying foul over the difference in treatment received by Caroline Kennedy and Sarah Palin are ignoring the power gap between the respective jobs sought, Kathleen Parker argues in the Washington Post. Both may have emerged without proper vetting, Parker writes, but Kennedy is seeking to be one of a hundred senators, while Palin could have had her finger on the nuclear button.

Palin's political experience certainly outweighs Kennedy's, Parker writes, but the harsh scrutiny the governor endured stemmed from genuine concerns about her competence—as well as her divisive tone and temperament. With Kennedy, the worries are more about her people-power and whether she has earned the job. These questions are less related to experience, Parker argues, and are ones voters will have a chance to answer in 2010.

A Sen. Caroline Kennedy would not be a nuclear-enabled leader of the free world, whereas a Vice President Sarah Palin might have been. Their treatment has been commensurate with that difference. - Kathleen Parker

The question for detractors isn't so much whether she's qualified, smart enough or even experienced enough. Respectively, 'no,' 'yes,' and 'it may not matter' are reasonable responses. - Kathleen Parker on Caroline Kennedy

There can be little debate that Palin, as a governor and former mayor, has the superior political resume. More to the point, she was duly elected to both of those positions and has enjoyed an 80% approval rating.
- Kathleen Parker

It wasn't just the democrats with concerns...the Repukes questioned her appeal...and funny how MCLAME has now distanced himself from her. As for politically inept? You display that everytime you post.

Forgetting who has more experience and has actually earned the job, it doesn't really matter -- Sarah Palin isn't running for the U.S. Senate from New York. The "vetting" that needs to be done by the media should be to look into and inform the public about Caroline Kennedy's viewpoints (extremely liberal) and how she would represent her state, not how she compares with a governor from another state. Send the crew that looked into Palin to New York to go through Caroline Kennedy's dumpster. Reply

I guarantee the smear-mongers aren't going to find much of anything in Caroline Kennedy's "dumpster." She learned well from her mother and has long kept it classy and private. Meanwhile, up in Alaska, Palin's shotgun-in-law was just arrested on drug charges. No digging required; the woman and her family are a train-wreck. Reply

As the article states, there is a difference between running for Senate than running for the Vice Presidency. Reply
