Shoulder likely to keep Manning out of Packers game; Jacobs, Umenyiora also iffy

(NEWSER) - The Giants denied that quarterback Eli Manning would miss a month because of a sore shoulder, but acknowledged that he might not play against the Packers Sunday. The sprain occurred when Dallas linebacker Anthony Spencer sacked Manning, mashing his shoulder against the turf, during the Cowboys' 45-35 win. Cops arrest ex-Giants star; he faces felony

(NEWSER) - Football great Lawrence Taylor was arrested today and charged with third-degree rape, after allegedly having sex with a16-year-old girl. Police say the incident took place earlier today at a hotel in Montebello, New York, the Daily News reports. Taylor is currently in jail, and will be arraigned this afternoon. More»

(NEWSER) - Plaxico Burress pleaded guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree this morning, as part of a plea deal that will send him to prison for two years, Newsday reports. “Unfortunately, there was no legal defense we could offer,” his attorney said.
