UK Mailman Maimed by Rottweilers

Passerby clubbed, drove over dogs; may have saved man's arm

(Newser) – A British mailman suffered serious injuries when he was mauled by rottweilers while delivering Christmas cards yesterday, the Times of London reports. The two dogs ripped his arm, and bit his back and legs, until a passerby intervened, clubbing the canines with an iron bar and running over one with his van. The owners, not home at the time, had the pets euthanized afterward.

It’s against British law to let dogs be dangerously out of control in public, but Keith Davies, 54, may have been attacked on private property in Cambridge. The Royal Mail says the postman of 5 years is making progress and won't lose his injured arm. “We are not anti-dogs, but we need to be protected from them,” a colleague told the Cambridge News.

I kept revving the engine to distract the dog until it stopped mauling him. It eventually stopped, but after a long time. He was in a huge amount of agony.
