Paul Challenges GOP Agenda on Campaign Trail

Posted Jul 22, 07 8:49 AM CDT in Politics US

(Newser) – Most Americans know him—if at all— as the firebrand Texas congressman who’s always pushed to the end of the line during debates. Ron Paul flounders at the bottom of national polls, but he's is the most “friended” Republican on myspace.com. And he's the lone GOP presidential candidate who opposes the Iraq war. His solution to the mess, he tells the New York Times: “Just leave.”

Paul is admired for his willingness to stick to his principles, which have led him to oppose funding for his own district, a medal of honor for Rosa Parks, and Republican talking points. And his candidacy, if ultimately fruitless, has recently taken off  among disillusioned voters, especially the young and the wired.
