Obama Gets Knocked for Bad Science

Group also zings Cruise, Oprah, McCain for scientific flubs

(Newser) – He’s about to lead the free world, but Barack Obama’s a little fuzzy on science,
says a group that put the president-elect—along with John McCain, Tom Cruise, Oprah, and many others—on its celebrity list of shame. Obama’s offense? Suggesting that rising autism rates could be connected to vaccines despite a lack of evidence.

John McCain also touted “strong evidence” supporting the vaccine theory, but experts say higher rates are due to increased awareness, the Independent reports. Sense About Science also scolds Sarah Palin for dismissing fruit fly research, Tom Cruise for declaring psychiatry a “crime against humanity,” and Moore for advocating the use of “highly trained medical leeches.”

Perhaps not fox news, however, there seems to me to be little reason for accepting the judgment of Sense About Science. We have only their word that they are honest. Remember what bush said, early in his incumbency, about evildoers in his administration. He said they would be rooted out. Then Scooter Libby, cheney's buddy got convicted. Now, it's pardon time. We should have learned by now that one can not really trust anyone. So, These folks saying that Obama is playing fast and loose with the truth should be taken with a grain, or perhaps a kilo, of salt.
