Apple mastermind Steve Jobs, looking to silence whispers about his health, said today his doctors have discovered a hormonal imbalance that's causing his weight loss, reports the AP. Rumors have been flying since the increasingly gaunt-looking cancer survivor canceled his annual speech to the Macworld conference tomorrow. “The remedy for this nutritional problem is relatively simple and straightforward, and I've already begun treatment,” wrote Jobs in an open letter.

The hormone imbalance, Jobs writes, “has been ‘robbing’ me of the proteins my body needs to be healthy.” And don’t expect an overnight recovery. “Just like I didn't lose this much weight and body mass in a week or a month, my doctors expect it will take me until late this Spring to regain it.
