Sarah Palin’s fellow grandmother says she’s getting a bad rap in the press over her recent drug arrest. Sherry Johnston—mother of Levi, who recently fathered a son with Bristol Palin—tells People she has been addicted to OxyContin since a hysterectomy 8 years ago. “I was in pain,” said Johnston, 42, “and I’m still in pain.”

Johnston said the chronic suffering forced her out of her job as a hairstylist because she can't stand for long periods. “I’m disabled,” she said. “I’d rather not comment any more, but it’s not everything that they’re saying.” Johnston did brighten up about new grandson Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston. “I started bawling,” she said. “I think he looks just like Levi.” (More Levi Johnston stories.)
