Connor Cruise cusses out former rep after Patriots tweet

(NEWSER) - Apparently Connor Cruise takes football very, very seriously: A tweeted joke from one of his former reps after the Super Bowl led Tom Cruise's only son to lash out via text, and may even have led to a split with the rep. It all started when Todd Krim tweeted to Connor, Patriots fan extraordinaire, "Sorry @TheConnorCruise maybe next year!!!" Connor's response, sent via text to Krim, was perhaps a bit of an overreaction: "That was a gay ass [bleeping] tweet . . . U don’t say [bleep] like that about my team the second they lose. Low." But, he writes on his blog, he did have 'a blast'

(NEWSER) - If you were hoping to see who Ricky Gervais would skewer at next year's Golden Globes, sorry: The comic says that while he "had a blast" hosting Sunday's award show, he has directed his agent never to let him do it again. Globes win sets David Furnish off

(NEWSER) - The longstanding Elton John-Madonna feud showed no signs of cooling down last night, when John's husband David Furnish took to Facebook to slam Madonna after she beat out John in the best song category. "Madonna. Best song???? F**k off!!!" he wrote, according to TMZ . Furnish continued, "Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit. Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in it's narcissism. And her critisism of Gaga shows how desperate she really is." Gervais skewers NBC, HFPA, Eddie Murphy ... and Madonna skewers him

(NEWSER) - "So, where was I?" began Ricky Gervais, drink in hand, as he sauntered on stage to open the Golden Globes. "Nervous?" He wasted no time throwing out a few insults, noting that he was hosting the show on NBC, "America's third biggest network. Or is it fourth?" He moved on to the show itself, calling the Globes "just like the Oscars, except without all that esteem." More of the best lines from the night:

• "The Golden Globes are to the Oscars what Kim Kardashian is to Kate Middleton," Gervais said, going on to call them louder, drunker, and "more easily bought."

'Homeland' also does well at the Golden Globes

(NEWSER) - Be honest: You tuned in to the Golden Globes tonight mostly to see what Ricky Gervais would say . But awards were handed out too, and The Artist and The Descendants were the big film winners. Both won best picture and best actor in their respective categories (comedy or musical for the former, drama for the latter), and The Artist also won best original score.
