Brit Spells Trouble on 'If U Seek Amy'

Racy double meaning in If U Seek Amy could get it B-A-N-N-E-D

(Newser) – Bleeping out cuss words is all but mundane for radio stations, but Britney Spears' third Circus single, If U Seek Amy, (say it fast, boys and girls) has them a bit perplexed on how to censor. Nice try, Brit, but most DJs won't be allowed to play it, MTV reports.

"We have a responsibility to the public ... you put this out and act like we're all fuddy-duddies, like we're trying to make moral judgments. It's not about us," says the director of a Cincinnati station. "It's about the mom in the minivan with her 8-year-old."

Back in the 70's, April Wine had a song "If you see Kay," which is basically the same thing, and it was on the radio ALL the time. Granted, they were a Rock band and not some little pop princess, but still... what's the big deal. Most young kids won't even realize there's anything else going on, and for those who DO catch the joke are already "corrupted", aren't they? Yeesh... Reply

I was born in '67, but I loved April Wine anyway. Played the heck out of them in college.
