A girl can be forgiven for getting caught up in the moment, right?

(NEWSER) - The national anthem, the Super Bowl … it’s a lot for a girl to deal with, and Christina Aguilera says she just got caught up in the moment last night and lost her place in the song. “I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through,” she says in a statement to the AP . (NEWSER) - There are three things you have to do when singing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl: Look good, hit the right notes, and sing the correct lyrics. Christina Aguilera is two for three. Aguilera, who isn't exactly an anthem novice (she sang the song at Game 7 of last year's NBA finals, notes the New York Daily News ), botched the lyrics. What she was supposed to sing: "O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming." What she actually sang: "What so proudly we watched at the twilight's last reaming." More»

(NEWSER) - Jennifer Hudson's use of a pre-recorded backing track for her boffo rendition of the national anthem at the Super Bowl is par for the course in the industry these days, ABC News reports. Exhibit A: Faith Hill did the same when she sang "America the Beautiful" before the same game. Once considered a no-no, the practice is becoming common now for even the biggest performers at stadium events, ABC notes. More»
