(Newser) – Producers of David Mamet's Speed-the-Plow have filed a grievance with Actors' Equity against Jeremy Piven, who left the production with what his doctors called mercury poisoning, BroadwayWorld.com reports. No date for the arbitration proceedings has been set. Piven has gone to another set of doctors for a second opinion, but details have not been revealed, TMZ reports.

This may be a pivotal point in Piven's career... 'Damage Control'; If he's viewed as a primo uomo (unreliable)...? He's an exceptional actor, but perhaps he's playing himself, in some fashion, in HBO's Entourage? Secondly, performing the same thing, on stage, day after day, night after night, will takes its toll upon you. If one's truly in their stage character, you actually become lost, totally entwined in one's character, roll... From personal experience.
