Bush Twins Offer Tips to Obama Girls

'Remember who your dad really is'

(Newser) – As they enter the White House, Malia and Sasha Obama can benefit from advice from two who know exactly what they’re going through: Jenna and Barbara Bush, who penned an open letter to the Obama girls in the Wall Street Journal. The twins offer advice on where to go (the staff Christmas party), who to see (staffer Ramsey’s the best hugger), and what to do (slide down the Solarium banister).

Other tips: don’t let presidential trips ruin your Halloween; trick-or-treat on the plane if you have to. Take comfort in your dog. “Go to anything and everything you possibly can.” As older kids, the Bushes write, “we were constantly inspired by the amazing people we met.” But “it’s not always easy” when the world thinks they know the man who raised you. “So here is our most important piece of advice: remember who your dad really is.”

After the first family got a shellacking from Sarah Palin for featuring their dog, Bo, alone, on their White House greetings, they're now under fire for transporting the dog all the way back from Hawaii just to appear in a photo op with the president during a shopping trip in Virginia. It must have been expensive to ship Bo from Hawaii, where a neighbor reported seeing the Portuguese water dog and the first daughters, reports Politico . Not so, according to the White House: Bo didn't actually travel to Hawaii with Michelle and the girls. (NEWSER) - President Obama was back on the basketball court yesterday despite his injured lip , but his opponents this time around were a bit less likely to elbow him. Obama played an early morning game at an Interior Department gym with daughters Malia, 12, and Sasha, 9, the New York Daily News reports.
