10 Democrats Obama Must Watch Out For

Conyers, Feinstein, Biden could be pains in president's rear

Share

(Newser) – The good vibrations can’t last forever. Sooner or later,  President Obama is bound to run afoul of members of his own party. Glenn Thrush, in Politico, scopes out the suspects:

  • John Conyers: The irrepressible House Judiciary chairman wants to investigate the US attorneys scandal and other potential Bush-era malfeasance, despite Obama’s desire to “look forward.”
  • Dianne Feinstein: Senator has already made Obama apologize for not keeping her in the loop.

  • Joe Biden: You know the VP has some big gaffes left in him.
  • Daniel Inouye: Newly minted Senate Appropriations chair is a big fan of earmarks, and one aide says he “isn’t going to bend to accommodate” Obama.
  • Michelle Obama: After getting the Jackie O treatment, she has nowhere to go but down.

I agree, but Conyers should investigate the US Attorney's scandal, and other areas of the Bush administration-including their intelligence claims leading to war with Iraq need to be investigated. Forward looking or not, the only way to keep these things from recurring is to find out how they happened. If it was criminal malfeasance, so be it. Obama's feet need to be held to the fire on this.

Are they really ready to start investigations? Remember the old bible thing about those without sin casting the first stone. Think these guys meet that criteria. Obama better watch his back. Too many of these guys still see him as the junior senator from Illinois. Reply

That bible quote would keep us from ever convicting anyone of murder. If the last administration knowingly manipulated data to take us to war in Iraq, they should be dealt with through the legal system, IMO. People can see him as a junior senator all they want, but he is the president, elected on a much stronger majority than Bush ever was. I don't remember Bush ever having any problems in wielding power. And if I remember, he declared a voter mandate in 2004 with far less of a majority than obama had.
