Crossfire Over Hillary's Cleavage

Posted Jul 28, 07 7:40 AM CDT in US Politics

(Newser) – A senior adviser to Hillary Clinton released a letter yesterday condemning a Washington Post columnist for noting a cleavage-baring outfit the Senator wore in a televised speech last week. In a fundraising flyer, Ann Lewis called Robin Givhan's piece "grossly inappropriate," and urged donors to help fight treatment she called "insulting."

Clinton's cleavage, Givhan wrote, "was a small acknowledgment of sexuality and femininity" that departed from the Senator's "desexualized uniform" of black pantsuits. Givhan's editor at the Post noted that the paper had run "dozens" of pieces on Clinton's policy positions, adding, "I don't think we have anything to apologize for."
