(Newser) – President Obama is preparing to lead an international effort to crack down on the Mugabe regime with an aim to driving the controversial autocrat from office, reports the Times of London. The US will push for tougher UN sanctions against Zimbabwe, including a foreign investment ban, and press Russia and China not to veto the action. There's a "tremendous miscarriage of justice in that country and it has to end," said an Obama aide.

nation building = goodwill, not making them love us I'd not call cutting malaria rates 80+% a waste of money.

Sanctions don't hurt those at the bottom, only those corrupt politics dining on steak and beating up photographers outside of ritzy hotels.

Sanctions will only harm the already beaten-to-a-pulp population of Zimbabwe. Mugabe is a psychopath with no conscience. Talking, talking, talking to this heartless, selfish narcissist will only pass the time. Sanctions won't help - you don't give a person (Zimbabwe) with a thorn in his foot antibiotics and psychotherapy; you take the thorn out with a needle and squeeze out the puss. Then the body will heal itself.
