(Newser) – A Georgia high school dance team has been barred from practicing or performing this year after a provocative routine drew parents' ire, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. The girls wore skimpy outfits while dancing atop chairs during halftime at a school basketball game. “The team will not perform for the remainder of the year, nor will they represent the school,” a spokeswoman for the district said.

The only part that I would consider inappropriate was when the girls selected the boys out of the crowd and sat them down to perform a "pseudo-lapdance. Whatever ADULTS in charge showed a gross lack of judgment by allowing that part of the performance to happen. Everything up to that point seemed like a normal cheer, something that was meant to pep up the school and not titillate. You have to argue that adult guidance was missing and this routine was in bad taste. It's up to the adults (parents/teachers) to SHOW what is and is not acceptable in a public setting. I'm not sure what else their punishment was, but by banning them for the rest of the year is excessive and unnecessary. How will they learn their lesson if their outright banned and therefore unable to redeem themselves?
