HS Benches Racy Dance Team

Share

(Newser) – A Georgia high school dance team has been barred from practicing or performing this year after a provocative routine drew parents' ire, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. The girls wore skimpy outfits while dancing atop chairs during halftime at a school basketball game. “The team will not perform for the remainder of the year, nor will they represent the school,” a spokeswoman for the district said.

When HAVEN'T cheerleaders been provocative? I watched the video and yes, they did come across as a bunch of wanna-be strippers, but come on now. "Skimpy outfits"? Cheerleading outfits are, GASP, skimpy. Reply

Not a question of just skimpy outfits. The real question is where do you draw the line? Even the NFL had that problem a few years ago. (Dallas ). I don't think it's a high school's job to provide vocational training for future pole dancers. Reply

Cheerleaders are, yes, supposed to be provocative but children are not. I would be appauled if my daughter wanted to do something like this, no wonder teenage sex and violence toward women is so prevalent in our schools and society. Reply
