(Newser) – The Peanut Corporation of America, whose plant in Georgia is the sole source of a nationwide salmonella outbreak, has admitted selling peanut products directly to retailers, primarily dollar stores. The reversal of the company’s earlier claim that it sold only to institutions means the recall of almost 1,800 peanut products may have to be widened, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Ah, more capitalists being capitalists. I still remember being told, "Capitalists don't need to be regulated. They self-regulate, because they want to please their customers and their workers. We should run our government like a company." Whew! I cannot express the amount of relief I have that it has gone only THIS far and we still have some public lands left and some public agencies left, though we were getting to the point where the SEC and EPA were pretty much just there and not really do their jobs, just as their leaders instructed. And public resources were being sold off, just as the leadership also wanted. Thank goodness the public has at least peeped open an eye...
