The Falcons are looking to trade Michael Vick, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. His contract runs through 2013 and includes a base salary of $9 million, sweetened with a $6.43 million 2009 bonus. But with Vick in prison on dogfighting charges and rookie Matt Ryan having led the team to the playoffs in 2008, Atlanta is looking to dump the disgraced QB and open salary-cap room.
“With regards to Michael Vick, we’ve decided to seek a trade of his contractual rights to another NFL club,” GM Thomas Dimitroff said. “We took a number of steps in the 2008 season, including using our first pick to draft a quarterback. We feel a trade is the best move for the Falcons, and it’s also in the best interest of Michael."
